Don’t Drink the Anti-Union Kool-Aid

If you think “there is an imbalance and that public sector unions are ‘running things’ or ‘destroying the educational system’, you are misinformed. Consider where you get your information and how you accept that something is true.

Fox Reverses Poll Results To Falsely Claim Most Americans Favor Ending Collective Bargaining http://dlvr.it/K8lGX

The enemies are corporations that pay no taxes and violate labor, environmental and public safety laws as much as they can get away with – NOT unions or government. Do you want this flag? http://tinyurl.com/4eezodl  (Watch The Grapes of Wrath to remind yourself of what life in the US was like before we had labor laws and other important regulations that DO protect us when they are complied with.)

Also, consider this quote and who said it, “” We must reduce workers’ salaries and take away their right to strike.” ~Adolf Hitler, May 2, 1933

Remember that lawsuit that everyone made jokes about – the one in which a woman sued McDonald’s because their hot coffee spilled on her lap? McDonald’s and other corporations poured millions of dollars into a very successful propaganda campaign so that American voters would think it was a frivolous lawsuit – even though it was not. See the film, “Hot Coffee” to see how corporations regularly spend millions of dollars to make voters think a falsehood is true.

The woman who sued McDonald’s was in her 70s, was a passenger in her son’s car, and the car was parked when she opened the hot coffee that burned her. The coffee was filled to the brim, and she suffered disabling 3rd degree burns on her genitals, thighs, legs, and lower abdomen. Her health was never the same again. The family only asked McDonald’s to pay her medical expenses, but they refused. Additionally, McDonalds was aware of more than 700 other very serious burn injuries to other customers prior to this incident yet continued to keep its coffee at temperatures that are unsafely hot. They did this to extend the shelf-life of the coffee.

The family only sued McDonald’s because they refused all other forms of mediation or fair settlement of significant medical expenses. THIS is how corporations successfully get Americans to believe things that are not true.

The same thing has been done to make you and millions of others believe that “The only desire is balance, so that public sector unions don’t run things and destroy the educational system and state budgets.” And that is not true.

I encourage you to consider getting your news from credible sources such as DemocracyNow!, The Rachel Maddow Show, The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, GritTv, The Nation, The Atlantic, Mother Jones, AlterNet, Michael Moore, Truthout or Keith Olbermann.

Slavery and Indentured Servitude: The First Labor System the United States had. The harmful effects of both of these remain with us in the US to this day. Responsible voters will watch the entire documentary “Eyes On the Prize” to learn how slavery continues to affect us all. http://to.pbs.org/TA1ga

Although slavery was outlawed in the 1800s, our labor system remains affected by it. Additionally, discrepancies between different racial groups in workplaces and in terms of wealth and education are also outcomes of slavery that remain with us.

Modern-day slavery remains a problem in the US and worldwide; human trafficking is a serious problem. Responsible voters will learn all they can about this and take action to be a modern-day abolitionist. http://www.endhumantrafficking.org/
